1. FORMAT: For formatting for nominations and bids, see the initial 20 man auction thread from last year (here)
2. ELIGIBILITY: no ML eligible player can be nominated for the draft unless they were offered a QO. As a reminder, this means that any player nominated must have either 400 plate appearances (PA) for a batter, or 15 games played (G) for a pitcher. Baseball Reference is the source of truth for these statistics. Do NOT rely on someone's contract to determine whether they are ML eligible or not.
3. NOMINATIONS: Teams may have only one open nomination at a time, though this will get lifted towards the end if we are running out of time. Note that you may have bids across multiple players at one time, the restriction applies only to nominating players for auction.
4. BID PROCESS: The order bids appear on the board is determinative. Each bid must have a BV that is at least $1 higher than the prior bid. Teams CANNOT go over the $500 hard cap during their auction; any team winning a player that results in them going over the $500 cap will be assessed a 2 point penalty, and the auction will reopen at the previous bid (teams will be given the option to withdraw their bid, at that time; if they choose to withdraw, the next highest bid will be given the offer, and so on, so long as they are valid bids). An auction ends once no one has placed a new bid on a player for 24 hours.
5. TRADES: Trades are allowed and encouraged during this time, as a way for teams to create cap space as needed.
6. END OF FREE AGENCY: Once there has not been any new bids or nominations for a 24 hour period, FA will be declared over. If free agency is running close to the start of the FYPD, the commissioner will first lift the one nomination limit, and a few days after that, will no longer allow any new nominations.
